C. Selection Procedure

The selection process for the Diploma in Dramatic Arts is highly competitive and typically consists of two main phases:

 * Phase I: Preliminary Exam (Audition/Practical Test)

    Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria must appear for a Preliminary Examination/Audition, which is conducted in several centers across India (including Delhi).

   * This round tests basic acting skills, aptitude, and knowledge of theatre.

   * This stage filters candidates based on a practical demonstration of their talent and understanding of dramatic arts.

 * Phase II: Interview-cum-Workshop

   * Candidates selected in Phase I are invited for a mandatory five-day Interview-cum-Workshop held at the NSD campus in New Delhi.

   * This is an intensive process where the selection committee closely observes the candidates' performance, discipline, psychological makeup, and aptitude for the dramatic arts over an extended period.

   * It may involve improvisation, scene work, physical and vocal exercises, and in-depth interviews.

 * Final Selection:

   * The final selection is based on the candidate's overall performance in the workshop and interview.

   * Selected candidates must also pass a medical fitness test conducted by the school.

I strongly recommend visiting the official National School of Drama (NSD) website when the new academic session's admission notice is released for the most up-to-date and specific information.
